Symposium on Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) & IUI Workshop

Venue: Royal Taj Hotel, Sukkur

Australian Concept Fertility Centre (ACFC) successfully organized the “Symposium on Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) & IUI Workshop” on Sunday, 1 February 2026, at Royal Taj Hotel, Sukkur. The scientific and educational event brought together gynaecologists, physicians, fertility specialists, and healthcare professionals from Sukkur and surrounding districts, reflecting strong professional interest in advanced fertility care and modern reproductive medicine.

The symposium was organized with the objective of providing updated scientific knowledge on infertility diagnosis and treatment, Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART), and Intrauterine Insemination (IUI). The program also provided an opportunity for medical professionals to discuss current diagnostic approaches, evidence-based treatment strategies, and practical aspects of fertility management under Australian Clinical Protocols.

The program was hosted by Ms Sidra Afzal, Senior Coordinator, Australian Concept Fertility Centre, who coordinated and managed the proceedings throughout the event.

The program formally commenced with the recitation of the Holy Quran, followed by the welcome and opening address by Mr Muhammad Waseem Khan, Country Manager – ACFC Pakistan.

Welcome Address – Mr Muhammad Waseem Khan

The workshop began with a welcome address delivered by Mr Muhammad Waseem Khan, Country Manager, Australian Concept Fertility Centre (ACFC).

Mr Khan introduced Australian Concept Fertility Centre Pakistan and highlighted its unique international affiliation with Concept Fertility Centre, Perth, Western Australia.

He further briefed that Australian Concept Fertility Centre Pakistan is the vision of Dr. Kiran Shahid, a distinguished family physician, and Mr Shahid Shakur, a Barrister & Solicitor based in Perth, Western Australia. Inspired by Dr. Bruce Bellinge, founder of Australia’s first private IVF laboratory established in Perth in 1982, their objective was to introduce Australian IVF technologies and clinical practices to Pakistan, thereby bridging international expertise with local fertility care.

Mr Khan emphasized that ACFC is the only IVF center in Pakistan with genuine Australian affiliation, ensuring adherence to international standards in clinical governance, laboratory protocols, training, and ART procedures. He also highlighted that all ACFC consultants are foreign-qualified and highly experienced, while the clinical and scientific teams are trained and supported in accordance with international standards and ongoing professional development.

He further informed the participants that the ACFC Pakistan head office is located in Karachi, with additional centers operating in Lahore, Multan, and Quetta. He emphasized that patients across these centers have access to infertility diagnosis and treatment facilities delivered in accordance with Australian clinical protocols and standards.

Scientific Session – Male Infertility

Prof. Dr Aziz Abdullah, FRCS, FEBU – Medical Director, Consultant Urologist & Male Fertility Specialist, ACFC, delivered a comprehensive scientific presentation on “Male Infertility: Facts, Myths, and the Critical Role of Semen Analysis”
His session covered the major causes of male infertility, appropriate diagnostic pathways, and evidence-based treatment strategies. Particular emphasis was placed on the importance of Semen Analysis, Hormonal Assessment, and Advanced Diagnostic Tests in establishing an accurate diagnosis and determining an appropriate treatment plan.

The presentation also addressed common myths and misconceptions surrounding male infertility and highlighted the importance of evaluating the male partner as an essential component of infertility assessment. The session generated active participation and clinical discussion among the attending doctors.

Scientific Session – Female Infertility

Dr Fouzia Rasool Memon, FRCOG – Consultant Gynaecologist & Fertility Specialist, delivered an extensive scientific presentation on “Unexplained Infertility, Weight Management & Its Impact on Fertility”
She began by defining unexplained infertility and discussed its diagnostic challenges. Dr Memon explained the role of detailed evaluation including transvaginal ultrasound, ovarian reserve testing, tubal patency assessment, semen analysis, and comprehensive hormonal profiling in ruling out identifiable causes and guiding further management.

A key focus of her presentation was the impact of weight management on reproductive health. She highlighted how both obesity and underweight conditions can disrupt ovulation, menstrual regularity, and hormone balance, and negatively affect IVF outcomes, implantation rates, and pregnancy maintenance. Dr Memon emphasized the importance of pre-conception lifestyle modification, individualized nutrition planning, and medical management of metabolic conditions such as PCOS and insulin resistance to optimize fertility outcomes.

Dr Memon further discussed modern Assisted Reproductive Technology procedures, including IUI, IVF, and ICSI, and explained their specific clinical applications in cases of unexplained infertility and in patients with weight-related reproductive dysfunction. She stressed the need for individualized assessment, risk stratification, and evidence-based treatment planning tailored to each patient’s clinical profile.

The session concluded with an emphasis on patient-centered care, where addressing lifestyle factors alongside advanced reproductive technologies can significantly improve conception rates and overall reproductive health.

Scientific Session – Endometriosis & Fertility

Dr Shoaibunisa Soomro, HOD, Civil Hospital Sukkur, delivered a detailed scientific lecture on “Endometriosis and Fertility.”

Her presentation focused on the relationship between Endometriosis and infertility, its impact on reproductive health, and the importance of timely diagnosis and appropriate fertility management. She also discussed contemporary approaches to the assessment and management of patients affected by Endometriosis.

Interactive Scientific Discussion & Q&A

The scientific presentations were followed by an interactive Question & Answer session, allowing participating doctors to engage directly with the speakers.

The discussion covered infertility diagnosis, male and female fertility factors, diagnostic investigations, treatment options, ART procedures, and practical approaches to infertility management. The interactive exchange provided an opportunity for participants to share clinical experiences and seek expert opinions on relevant fertility-related issues.

IUI Training Workshop

The event concluded with an IUI Training Workshop, conducted by Dr Fouzia Rasool Memon, providing participating healthcare professionals with practical orientation and procedural guidance regarding IUI.

The workshop complemented the scientific sessions by connecting theoretical knowledge with practical aspects of fertility treatment and reproductive medicine.

Closing Remarks

Mrs Fouzia Jamil Anwer, National Marketing Manager, ACFC, delivered the closing remarks and expressed her sincere appreciation to all participating doctors, speakers, panelists, and attendees for their valuable contribution and participation.

Conclusion

The Sukkur Symposium on Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) & IUI Workshop successfully achieved its objectives of scientific knowledge dissemination, professional engagement, and enhancement of awareness regarding modern infertility diagnosis and treatment.
